A coalition to cut carbon and secure action on climate change.
We are united by our shared mission: to reduce uk emissions and get britain on the path to a healthier, fairer and more sustainable future.
The Zero Carbon campaign was founded by Stephen Fitzpatrick and is currently being overseen by Izzy Goldstein. We have now ceased active campaigning, however, we remain operative as a hub for carbon pricing news, research and resources.
Stephen
Fitzpatrick
Founder of the Zero Carbon campaign, and Founder and CEO of OVO Energy
Stephen Fitzpatrick is a British entrepreneur who believes business has an important role to play in the race to create a zero carbon world. Stephen is the founder and CEO of the OVO group, which includes the UK’s third largest energy company, as well as the founder and CEO of Vertical Aerospace, a fully electric aircraft company reimagining the way we fly. He is also the Managing Partner of Akili, an impact investment firm focused on renewable energy infrastructure development in Africa.
Stephen launched the Zero Carbon campaign in July 2019, following the UK Government’s announcement of its plan to secure national net zero emissions by 2050. The central aim of the project was to ensure that the Government achieves its 2050 commitment by becoming the first major economy to put a meaningful price on carbon. Stephen contributed an initial £1 million of his own money to fund the campaign. You can read more about his perspective on carbon pricing here.
